One of the most important tourist spot in the beautiful Hyderabad city is Nehru Zoological Park. Nehru Zoological Park is one of the largest zoos in India. This park covers an area of 153 hectares and 243 hectares of the Mir Alam lake tank. Nehru Zoological Park has a wide selection of animals - about 3,500 species of birds, animals and reptiles are found here.
Nehru Zoological Park is managed by the Andhra Pradesh State Forest Department, this park is named after the first Prime Minister of independent India Mr. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, which was established on October 26, 1959.
Park Timings: 9:00 AM till 5:00 PM Tuesday to Sunday, the park remains closed on Monday.
Everyday thousands of visitors come here to see their favorite animals. In 2009 the Hyderabad zoo brought the Giraffe from Mysore zoo by giving one of it's white tigers.
Hyderabad Zoo Safari operates several trips each day, Lion Safari, Tiger Safari, Bear Safari and Butterfly Safari.
Other attractions include elephant rides, a museum of natural history, and a train for children, animals and native birds such as the Indian rhinoceros, Asiatic lion, tiger, panther, Gaur, orang-utan, Crocodile, Python, etc. Several zoo-bred animals have been rehabilitated in Deer Park in the restocking of depleted natural populations.
One of the special attraction in the zoo is the Snake park, where one can find different species of snakes from, around the world, star turtles and many other reptiles in glass cages.
If you are visiting the beautiful Hyderabad city then one of the must see places is the Nehru Zoological Park.
